How about steps for installation on a multi-server farm? Still can't get it working in our prod environment, but the single server test environment works okay (with no emails going out - apparently a known issue).

There is no option to include security groups/users in the back up or the previous document versions.

Created Issue: Backup for Application Templates do not work

When you use one of the 40 application templates that has been released by Microsoft and then delete the website, the website gets deleted, but no backup is created.

Unable to delete the root site collection. When trying, you either get:

Deletion operation has been cancelled.

or:

Deletion operation has been cancelled. at Microsoft.SharePoint.Library.SPRequestInternalClass.DeleteSite(String bstrUrl, Boolean bDeleteADAccounts)
at Microsoft.SharePoint.Library.SPRequest.DeleteSite(String bstrUrl, Boolean bDeleteADAccounts)

I am investigating this, however, regardless, I wanted it reported.

We have deleted and uninstalled all traces of site delete. We still have one application that will not allow us to delete site collections. Very annoying. Now when restoring a site collection from out dev environment we have to keep changing the name of the SC and create a new content database. Next I will try deleting the whole web application and creating the SC's again.

Writing to one single file forever is inherentely bad... Perhaps rolling to a series of logs, similar to the MOSS ULS logging mechanism, would be better. Anything other than one single file.

Created Issue: SiteDeleteCapture - Directing the backup folder to the same location on multiple WFEs farm?

There are limitation that the backup folder has to be created in a logical drive whether a local or SAN attached, and the you have to create individual backup folder with same name on each WFE servers and it make things hard to track. Has anyone encountered this issue? Can you share your solution?

We're receiving this error whenever we try to delete a subsite. The log file is empty, however, so we have no way of telling what exactly is happening. My question is whether or not it's the utility preventing us from deleting a site, or something else. I noticed that Messages.xml for MSIT Delete/Capture contains this exact error which led me to believe it was this tool causing the issue.

Ok so maybe it wasn't the path as I suspected. Any new sites that are created cannot be deleted without throwing the error:
"Delete site operation cancelled by user. Check the log file for additional details."

We're running MOSS on Server 2008 64 bit with IIS7. Anyone running under a similiar setup have trouble getting this to work?

I figured it out, and it was pretty dumb. Basically the path that the backups were directed to didn't exist so it choked.

This solution doesn't seem to work for our environment. We had to uninstall Site Delete in Production because we couldn't get it to work.

COMMENTED ISSUE: SPReport unable to output HTML report

I just downloaded and ran SPReport on one of our front-end SPS 2003 servers. It created an sprOut.xml file just fine, but bombs out on the HTML report. When I attempt the following command:

SPReport -x -f sprOut.xml

I receive the following error:

----------------------ERROR-------------------------
Could not generate html report summary file. SPReport.xsl may not be available.
----------------------------------------------------

The SPReport.xsl file exists in the same directory. I am not sure what the problem is. Any ideas?

The messages.xml file in the Site Delete Capture feature has a typo in the Message Subject. The word "seleted" should read "deleted".

CREATED ISSUE: Delete fails when backup file already exists

When deleting a site that has been deleted before, the process fails because the Site Deletion Capture feature does not rename the new (or old) backup file.

The following error shows up in the log file:

Potential export file sitename.bak already exists. Delete the existing file, or choose a different export file name.
Archive and delete unsuccessfully!
